Luminosity
The Glow From Within
Curated by Laura Abrams
Reception for the Artists April 11, 2-4pm
Luminosity is defined as “full of or emitting light; bright or shining, especially in the dark.” Artists were challenged to create incandescent, illuminated artwork, whether through materials, literal lighting elements, and stories that radiate life forces, spirituality, resilience, power, and charisma.
This exhibition celebrates the beginning of spring, with its lengthening days, sun, and blooming flowers. The artworks here exude hope, exuberance, and belonging, with their inner glow defying and triumphing over darkness. I am ecstatic about the works submitted, in many cases created, for this exhibition. Nineteen artists have contributed delightfully diverse mediums–glass, ceramics, painting, felt, and bleach–with figurative and abstract forms that emanate inner glow; with literal light elements; and with content that illustrates light conquering the dark.
We seek light to get us through dark times. Light leads the way.
