The Ground Upon Which We Stand: Sophia Moreau-Dust to Dust
15.75” x 13” x 12”
globe, acrylic, archival paper
The piece expresses humanity's relationship with the earth it both needs and destroys. We are birthed of this planet, fed and sustained by it, helplessly dependent upon it and yet so accustomed to using up its gifts without replenishing them that it may serve as our graveyard far too soon. The piece also explores the idea of the planet as a body and our bodies as substrata of land. We are but dust.
