Dream House in Distress calls to the conflicts between human intrusion and the environment and the portrayal of others as alien. The trash spills over as brown sludge seeps onto the ground while the dog stands guard at the door. The nest lies atop the house with a broken shell from a wild hatchling and two parrot eggs. All of it sits below the upside down American flag call of distress.
