Re-Imagining Our Footprint: Laura Abrams - Hurried Exit
12” square, mixed media
As an artist working towards a more sustainable future, I create art with recycled and found materials featuring elements from the natural world.
In "Hurried Exit," a frightened creature flees a dark, ruined landscape for the safety of less ominous ground. This work addresses the decaye built environment, the destruction of the earth, and increasing peril to wildlife. It is built using recycled and natural materials: paper, foil, soil, and flower petals. It also includes glitter, a symbol of human excess.
