My previous medium was collaging with paint, photographs and written words dealing with dreams and forgotten feelings. At the time I was very passionate about this process. Eventually, because of economic circumstances, I moved to the foothills of California. I settled there for many years working daily in a garden center. There was no time or energy for art making. Eventually, I moved back to the Bay Area in 2015.
After the pandemic shut down in 2021, I had a moment to breath and to ask “now what?”. I realized what had been missing from my life was making art with more attention and care.I found solace on the Internet learning more about different approaches to art. I knew I had to change my approach and to focus more on what I needed, where to begin, what was of importance to me, and how I might change my way of painting. I was back in my studio again, but I had no idea of what to do. I loved my plein air painting group and the life drawing group also. However, now I had a chance to look at and think about what I was finding on the Internet. I found rich offerings of information, classes, and support groups. I studied and experimented with new painting ideas and the materials I had at hand. I am excited and encouraged now by my new work. The more I paint the more momentum and intention I gain.
