Upon successful completion of the course, the participants will show their work in the gallery at Abrams Claghorn.

  1. A concept summary/proposal for a solo show. The work in the show can be in any material, 2D, 3D, or video. The concept does not have to be fully refined, as we expect it to evolve as you work on the project.

In order to fairly and accurately assess the applicant’s work, we are asking to see the applicant’s completed artwork only so as to fairly and accurately assess its quality. The artworks in the application do not necessarily have to coincide with the theme of the proposed exhibit. The expectation is that most, if not all, of the work, will be made after acceptance to our professional development program.

Fee upon selection: $500; collected fee will cover the cost of instructors hired to support selected artists’ professional development. One scholarship of $500 may be awarded, based on the needs of the artists chosen. Abrams Claghorn Gallery will also work with these individuals to help find grants to help cover materials and other costs of creating work for the exhibition.

The Process

Throughout the months before the show’s opening date, selected artists will:

  • Develop their body of work with feedback from panel of artists and Gallery professionals
  • Attend bi-weekly Zoom studio visits with experienced professional artists
  • Develop their artist statements, bios, and other promotional materials
