Call For Artists

OPEN CALL: Seeking emerging artists with little to no exhibition experience.
Abrams Claghorn Gallery is excited to announce our 3rd annual professional development course. The course is designed to mentor and prepare selected artists for a gallery show. The course includes a three month program finishing with a summer exhibition debuting new works by each selected artist. 3 to 5 selected artists will work with industry professionals to develop their artist statements, curatorial skills, and create new work ahead of the exhibition open date.
Entry Procedure
Submit each of the following to by March 15, 2021:
1. A concept summary/proposal for your shared exhibition
2. A portfolio of 5-10 images of recent work. Images should be labeled LastName_FirstName_Title.jpg
Fee upon selection: $500; collected fee will cover the cost of instructors hired to support selected artists’ professional development. One scholarship of $500 may be awarded, based on the needs of the selected artists. Abrams Claghorn Gallery will also work with the selected artists to help find grants to help cover materials and other costs of creating work for this exhibition.
The Process
 Deadline Extended to March 25
Show opening date: July 1, 2021
Opening reception: TBD
Throughout the months before the show’s open date, selected artists will:
• Develop their body of work with feedback from panel of artists and Gallery professionals
• Attend bi-weekly Zoom studio visits with experienced professional artists
• Develop their artist statements, bios, and other promotional materials
