Seen and Heard : Marianna Dullum : Highland Cow

“Highland Cow” —a moment at the edge of the world.  This painting captures a highland cow I encountered in Scotland, basking in sunlight and stillness. Completely unfazed by the comings and goings of storm clouds looming nearby, and wholly unbothered by onlookers, we are reminded that in the constant swirl and turbulence of life, resilience can often be found in the tranquility of the present.

By creating lifelike works of art that capture the soul and beauty of whatever subject inspires, from the figure, to landscape, to still life, to animal life, I hope to connect with people through art that communicates the feeling of a mood or scene and transports people to something meaningful or familiar. With each brushstroke and mix of color pigments, realistic impressions come alive inspired by moments and memories from my life—allowing viewers an opportunity to appreciate these special experiences with me.
