Seen and Heard : Marianna Dullum : Big Dipper

“Big Dipper” —a moment suspended in time beneath the vastness of the stars. This painting captures the stillness and wonder I experienced on a solo backpacking trip in Point Reyes. After the sunset and before the moonrise, the Big Dipper dominates the night sky, offering a sense of both vastness and direction. The orange tent, a glowing warm contrast against the immensity of the night sky, provides a temporary place to rest in the space between dark and light.

By creating lifelike works of art that capture the soul and beauty of whatever subject inspires, from the figure, to landscape, to still life, to animal life, I hope to connect with people through art that communicates the feeling of a mood or scene and transports people to something meaningful or familiar. With each brushstroke and mix of color pigments, realistic impressions come alive inspired by moments and memories from my life—allowing viewers an opportunity to appreciate these special experiences with me.
