Like Bulosan, my mother immigrated from the Philippines with dreams of a better life for herself and her infant son. She labored physically and emotionally to build a life for her family, and retired after 36 years. backyard doors at sunset contemplates how one reflects and takes stock of one’s life. How we (re)evaluate past choices may shift when we are compelled to stand in the stillness offered by a break from what was once daily routine.
