Latisha Baker Artist Statement:

 My vision is to create more colorful experiences in the world.  To accomplish this the premise of my creative practice focuses on healing, reconciliation and transformation of the human spirit.   I use a primitive technique called pyrography, also referred to as woodburning, pyrotetching or pyroengraving.  As a self-taught artist, who has been working in the medium for over 20 years, I am inspired by storytelling and the human anatomy.  I juxtapose the human form with life events and experiences.  The complexity of my work can vary, but there is a common theme of storytelling, fluidity and movement.
