Alone a spilling lava-like figure sprawls two legs and reaches up to the sky. From its head (which I call a rainbow pussy) is born a taupe crown of deer antler which seems to pierce a heavy, gleaming white moon. The moon glows against a dark midnight sky and reflects onto the rolling layers of rainbow pussy, lava, mud and earth. As I made this painting, Harvey Weinstein was finally convicted of sexual violence and rape and I listened to Tarana Burke speak on Brene Brown’s podcast. In ruminating over the spiritual-psychological presence of sexual violence, I remembered that many rapists have daughters.
