Discover the art of gel plate printing, a versatile and reusable monotype printmaking technique. In this workshop, you’ll explore the fundamentals of gel plate printing, including working with texture tools, layering, and stencils.
All materials are provided, including gel plates, acrylic paints, papers, texture tools, and stencils. No prior experience is needed—just bring your creativity and a willingness to experiment! By the end, you’ll have a collection of unique prints, with plenty to love and share.
Artist Bio:
Lucy Ames has been creating and teaching art for decades, sharing her passion with students at two Berkeley schools and through summer art camps in her El Cerrito backyard studio. While Lucy first explored gel plate printing in 2017, it was during the pandemic that she immersed herself in daily painting and printing. Her work celebrates the joy of art-making and the beauty of nature, inspired by hikes on local trails and time in her studio capturing the organic shapes of the natural world.
