Desert Bloom, 18"x18", Glass, Wire, Beads,
My passion for glass started in 2004 after a long career in graphic design.
In the conceptual aspect, my new ideas are the sum of my personal interests from a very early age, art, nature and science. First, influenced by my close family, who were artists, handcrafters, doctors, chemists and searchers in the agriculture fields.
Then, during school and college years, I studied art and graphic design and worked as a freelancer till 2004. I took a few workshops in Israel and USA and am mostly self taught. Recently I have moved (back) to the USA. I live and work in Oregon now.
My glass jewelry has been featured and sold in the last 10 years in museum and design stores in Israel and USA, including Corning, NY and MOG, Tacoma.
One of my pieces, the "The Four Elements" brooch has won the jewelry award at Bullseye’s Glass E-merge competition in 2014.
My glass works, abstract sculptures, were featured several times at the Eretz Israel museum in Tel Aviv.
My works can be found in private collections including the collection of Baroness Ariane de Rothschild.
My desert series works started in 2015 while living in the south of Israel, the Negev. There you can find my home and studio of glass and jewelry works. Surrounded by rich and diverse nature scenes, from the Mediterranean Sea on the west to the Dead Sea and the Judean Desert on the east, I create my own fantasies and stories while using old and new techniques and materials.
The desert series is a group of abstract sculptures inspired by the beauty and the colors of the earth. All the colors in these works are a reaction of fused glass and metals.
Desert Bloom is a celebration of the red poppies that are native ti this area and bloom during the winter.
This work is collaboration with the Bedouin women association called "Desert Embroidery".
In my work I like to show the many contrasts that exist in nature, in life, such as order & chaos, obvious & hidden, transparent & opaque, fragile & durable. Everything in nature has a reason although sometimes it's a mystery to us.
My work is process based and can be at times very meditative. Although I plan each work usually by a drawing, I follow my intuition, I find the courage to follow my heart to do what I love.
