Over the course of two days, students will experience a comprehensive making session and finish the workshop with three teapots.
Ceramics artist Miki Shim will lead the class in throwing off the hump, how to create at least 3 lid designs, detailed strategy on fitting lids, and crafting spouts that don’t leak. Getting the handle just right along with several design options for the handle will also be taught.
Some experience is required for this workshop. Not suitable for beginners.

About Miki:
Internationally known ceramic artist, Miki Shim-Rutter, works from her home studio in San Carlos, CA. She also works from the Palo Alto Arts Center adult studios where she teaches ceramics, coordinates Private Events and Workshops. Shim-Rutter is an active member and past Board Member of the Association of Clay and Glass Artists of California (ACGA)
Shim-Rutter’s decorative functional pottery has become recognizable by its beautiful surface detail, sensitivity to lightness and proportion, and respect for the Earth and materials drawn from it. While she has successfully explored a wide range of techniques, materials and applications over the years, Shim-Rutter has become well known today particularly for her work related to tea.
